Usher Shuts Down Viral ‘Clone’ Rumors Following Tour Performance
Usher has addressed recent fan speculation that he utilized a body double or clone during a recent stop on his tour with Chris Brown.
Usher has officially shut down the persistent rumors that he employed a body double during one of his recent live shows. Fans had previously taken to social media to claim that the R&B icon hired a lookalike to perform in his place during a stop on his Raymond & Brown Tour alongside Chris Brown.
In a video posted to the tour’s official Instagram page, Usher shared his reaction to the wild theories suggesting he had used a stunt double or, more bizarrely, a clone. “Y’all are funny… clone?” he wrote. “They can’t clone this?” He further dismissed the speculation by adding, “How y’all come up with this? AI ain’t that advanced.”
The online speculation gained traction following Usher’s August 7 performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. As concert footage began to circulate, some attendees claimed the singer appeared different than usual, leading to viral TikTok videos questioning his identity. While most users were likely joking about the “clone” aspect, the discourse highlighted the intense scrutiny artists face in the age of viral social media.
Usher’s tour with Brown is scheduled to continue through the end of 2026, with the final show set for December 12 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. Despite the internet’s penchant for conspiracy theories, the singer remains focused on his high-energy performances, having recently made a surprise appearance alongside Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium to perform his iconic contribution to “Heart of the City.”
