Teyana Taylor Reflects on Iconic Yankee Stadium Performance with Jay-Z
Teyana Taylor shares her heartfelt gratitude after joining Jay-Z on stage for his historic ‘Extra Innings’ finale at Yankee Stadium.
You can’t knock Teyana Taylor’s hustle. On Monday, the multi-talented artist reflected on her career and expressed deep appreciation for Jay-Z, just one day after sharing the stage with the rap icon during the third and final night of his residency at Yankee Stadium. Taylor helped ignite the “Extra Innings” show by stepping in to perform Mary J. Blige’s iconic vocals on “Can’t Knock the Hustle,” a standout track from Jay-Z’s seminal 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram alongside photos from the electric evening, Taylor acknowledged that while there were minor technical sound issues on stage, the “gratitude was louder than any mic could ever be.” She wrote, “I got to see this lil Harlem girl stand beside the GOAT… in Yankee Stadium… in front of over 40,000 people who showed so much love. If you would’ve told this lil Harlem girl that one day she’d share a stage with Jay-Z in one of the most iconic stadiums in the world… she would’ve never believed you.” She added, “Father God has a funny way of reminding you just how far you’ve come.”
Taylor further expressed her thanks to the Brooklyn legend for the invitation to participate in such a monumental night, noting that she will “never take moments like this for granted” and will carry the memory with her forever.
Jay-Z’s anniversary shows at Yankee Stadium—celebrating 30 years of Reasonable Doubt, 25 years of The Blueprint, and the “Extra Innings” fan celebration—featured a parade of A-list talent across the July 10, 11, and 12, 2026, dates. Beyoncé opened the first night by performing the chorus of “Can’t Knock the Hustle” alongside her husband and returned on the final night to deliver a powerful rendition of “Drunk in Love.” The star-studded lineup also included appearances by Rihanna, Usher, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Pharrell Williams, Clipse, Alicia Keys, Eminem, and Nas.
