Muni Long Confirms Mariah Carey’s “Made For Me” Remix Is On The Way

After a brief run on the rumor mill, Muni Long has confirmed that Mariah Carey will appear on the highly-anticipated “Made For Me” remix.

Both Jermaine Dupri, who is partially responsible for the masterpiece, as well as Long previewed the remix on social media on Wednesday (May 8). From the sounds of it, fans will be pleased to know that an original verse from Carey will be on the reimagined ballad.

“You know a song ain’t a song with out a remix baby,” Dupri tweeted. Long wrote on Instagram, “ME AND MUHRYYYYAAAAAH GO BACK LIKE BABIES AND PACIFIIIIIII-YAAAAS,” referencing Carey’s 1995 classic “Fantasy (Remix)” with Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Carey didn’t repost the snippet on her own social media accounts, but fans are still overjoyed about what’s to come.

One wrote, “I’ve been screaming for the past 10 minutes.” Craig David commented, “Oh yes. The gift that keeps giving.” Another claimed Long’s storied songwriting relationship with Carey manifested this iconic collab. “From writing for Mariah to featuring Mariah on your song. whew. if this ain’t God ordained i don’t know WHAT IS,” they wrote.

This isn’t the first time Long teamed up with a superstar for a remix. She and Usher collaborated on the 2023 “Hrs & Hrs” remix. The songbird considered their duet to be a “natural progression” because she’s been behind-the-scenes as a songwriter for over a decade. When Usher inquired about hopping on the remix, Long told Sherri Shepherd she was initially hesitant because she wanted to “take the record as far as [she] could on [her] own”—hence why it took so long to be released.

However, Long’s momentum didn’t end when the remix dropped and the original “Hrs & Hrs” won a Grammy. She returned with “Made For Me” in September 2023 and it immediately became a viral hit with everyone singing, “Twinnnnn, where have you been?”

The live rendition from the 2023 Soul Train Awards also helped propel the record forward. It now has over 121 million streams on Spotify alone. With Carey on the remix to take it to even greater heights, Long may have another Grammy-winning hit on her hands.
