Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation Donates to Indiana Storm Relief
Beyoncé’s charitable foundation, BeyGOOD, has pledged $200,000 to support recovery efforts in Indiana following a devastating derecho storm.
Following the catastrophic impact of a derecho—an inland hurricane—that swept through Indiana last month, Beyoncé’s public charity foundation, BeyGOOD, has stepped in to provide critical support. The organization announced on Monday, Sept. 1, that it has donated $200,000 to aid in the ongoing relief and recovery efforts across the state.
“The funds will go to City Life Center and Angel by Nature that’s on the ground aiding communities most affected following the record flooding caused by a derecho storm that destroyed infrastructure, leaving more than 1000 people unhoused,” BeyGOOD stated. The organization emphasized that the donation is intended to provide immediate assistance to the neediest areas, specifically mentioning the city of Gary. Resources will include food, household supplies, and essential support for families displaced by the disaster.

According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, the storm system crossed from Illinois into northwest and north-central Indiana on August 11, 2026. The event was characterized by extreme straight-line winds, at least two tornadoes, large hail, and significant flash flooding. The aftermath left over 300,000 residents without power, with Gary experiencing the most severe and prolonged outages. The city, which has a population of approximately 67,300, is home to a predominantly Black community.
This latest contribution continues BeyGOOD’s history of rapid disaster response. In 2025, the foundation donated $2.5 million to the BeyGOOD LA Fire Relief Fund to assist those affected by wildfires. Furthermore, the organization has previously committed $6 million to mental health services for essential workers during the Covid-19 pandemic and provided significant aid to those impacted by the Flint Water Crisis.
