Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD Foundation Donates to Indiana Storm Relief
Beyoncé’s charitable organization, BeyGOOD, has pledged $200,000 to support recovery efforts in Indiana following a devastating derecho storm.
Beyoncé’s public charity foundation, BeyGOOD, is taking decisive action following the derecho—an inland hurricane—that tore through Indiana last month.
On Monday, September 1, 2026, BeyGOOD announced it had donated $200,000 to support relief efforts in the state. “The funds will go to City Life Center and Angel by Nature that’s on the ground aiding communities most affected following the record flooding caused by a derecho storm that destroyed infrastructure, leaving more than 1,000 people unhoused,” the organization stated.
“The fund will immediately support critical relief and recovery efforts in the neediest areas, including the city of Gary, providing food, household supplies, and other essential resources to individuals and families impacted by the flooding. According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, a thunderstorm system classified as a derecho crossed from Illinois into northwest and north-central Indiana on August 11, 2026. The system produced extreme straight-line winds, at least two tornadoes, large hail, and flash flooding.
Following the storm’s impact, there were more than 300,000 reported power outages across the state, with Gary suffering the longest disruptions. Data from the U.S. Census Bureau indicates that Black residents make up nearly 80% of the city’s roughly 67,300 residents.
This latest contribution continues a legacy of humanitarian work for the foundation. In 2025, BeyGOOD donated $2.5 million to the BeyGOOD LA Fire Relief Fund to assist families impacted by wildfires. Prior to that, the organization partnered with community-based groups to donate $6 million to mental health services for essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and provided aid to those affected by the Flint Water Crisis.
