Earlier this summer, the young athlete secured a Division I football scholarship offer from the University of Colorado Boulder to serve as a kicker.
During the episode, which can be viewed below, Wayne expressed immense pride in his son’s progress. He reflected on the unique path that led to this opportunity, noting that Dwayne Carter III was primarily focused on soccer before pivoting to the gridiron within the last two years.
"Of course, it's every amazing emotion that you can name," the rapper said regarding his reaction to the scholarship offer. "But given his situation, he’s a soccer player by nature. So taking up kicking was just something he started doing about two years ago, two summers ago... He, on his own, ended up working out with Marten Andersen's son. The famous [New Orleans] Saints kicker. I'm like, 'That's really kicking.' That's not, 'I'm just doing this while I'm not doing soccer.' [...] His coach told him to come try out, and he made the team at his school... Once he made that team, he did really well. He was recommended to go to the school he's at now, which is much better for kickers and athletics, period."
Dwayne Carter III began playing for the Gainesville High School team in Georgia during the 2026 season. The young athlete has benefited significantly from the mentorship of NFL Hall of Famer Morten Andersen, who remains the all-time leader in games played by a kicker. With such high-level guidance, there is considerable anticipation surrounding the future of Carter's football career as he rounds out his time at the high school level.
