Toronto Rapper Top5 Arrested for Murder in LA

Hassan Ali, known by his stage name Top5, has been arrested in Los Angeles this week after being on the run since May. Canadian police have wanted top5 for first-degree murder in connection to a January shooting that killed 20-year-old Hashim Omar Hashi. Police report that Top5 is also wanted for three counts of failure to comply with bail.

Hashi was killed after being shot several times entering a parking garage in North York, where he died at the scene.

Initially, Top5 was charged with accessory to murder charges, failure to comply with probation, and drug-related charges before the rapper’s charges were upgraded to first-degree murder in May. Before going on the run, the rapper was released from custody and placed on house arrest in March until he allegedly removed his ankle monitor and ditched it somewhere in the city.

Although the rapper has been on the run, he continued to release music, including the visual to his single “Movie” featuring Why G and BunDog. At this time, there has been no further update on Top5’s arrest.
