Jermaine Dupri Defends Kanye Pushing ‘Donda’ Release Date Back

Since Justin Laboy’s initial tweets announcing the release of Kanye West’s 10th studio album “Donda,” fans of West have been greatly anticipating the album’s release.

In 2 days, Ye sold out the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA, for the albums listening event, which also broke Apple Music streaming records. Fans anticipated the album to be released the night of the event, as scheduled, but after a day of waiting, Laboy sent another update, informing fans that Ye was once again pushing the album’s release date back to August 6th.

While fans were quick to voice their disappointment with the 2-week delay, Jermaine Dupri jumped in to defend Ye, saying that what Ye was doing is “real A&R shit.” “I’m not sure many understand what Ye did because n****s don’t have listening parties much in this era but you play the music and gage what you got by the reactions, then prioritize by best reaction and fix where the response was weak, real A&R shit,” he tweeted.

Since the listening event, reports have come out that Ye and his crew are living in the Mercedes Benz stadium. Ultimately inspired by the listening event last week, Ye is reportedly dedicated to finishing the album there. He was even spotted in the same red outfit and mask a couple of days later at the Atlanta United game.
