Premiere: Pastor Mike Jr. And Big Boi Keep A Bible For Survival In “He Got Me”

If you haven’t heard, Pastor Mike Jr. linked up with Big Boi for his latest track “He Got Me.” In the collaboration, the two southern musicians profess their faith and encourage listeners that their own breakthrough is on the way.

“Snap your fingers and dance/ I know in the end you win” starts the Birmingham, Ala. representative as the bass kicks in. “Let me tell you how my God came through/ If he did it for me, he’ll do it for you.”

The Outkast rapper speaks to his spiritual relationship, beginning his verse with the Lord’s Prayer. “No eviction, just conviction,” declares the Georgia native.

The reassuring track comes from the 19-time Stellar Awards winner’s upcoming EP I GOT AWAY, which will be released on Friday (April 19). The project is described as a testament to resilience and overcoming adversity, promising “raw emotion and unyielding spirit woven into every note and lyric.”

I GOT AWAY follows the gospel chart topper’s 2023 album Impossible. The 15-track project features Tamela Mann, Kierra Sheard, Angela McClure, James Fortune, and more. The senior pastor’s music career kicked off in 2020 with his breakout single “B!G” which was recognized as Billboard’s #1 Gospel Airplay Song of the year.

“In my opinion, Impossible is the best album I’ve ever done in my life, and I’ve only got two out,” shared the musician shared with EBONY last year. “I love it. Throughout my life. I’ve seen God do the impossible. The title track is a song we have been singing in my church for about four or five years, and God pushed me to create this project as my testimony.

“There are so many songs that I think folks will be inspired by, including my personal favorite, which made the album. My mom almost lost her life, and all she ever wanted to do was record a song. So when God spared her life, I told her that she was going to be on my album. So, we sing a song called ‘Still Here’ and I am so excited to share it.”

In partnership with McDonald’s Inspiration Gospel Tour, Pastor Mike Jr. will be co-headlining the I GOT AWAY Tour, which kicks off later this month. The tour will feature gospel stars Deitrick Haddon, Bri Babineaux, and Anthony Brown Jr., with stops in Nashville, Houston, Miami, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and more.
