Muni Long Taps Mariah Carey For “Made For Me” Remix

Muni Long gives her viral 2023 track “Made For Me” a new sound. On Tuesday night (May 21) the R&B singer officially released a remix to the track, calling on Mariah Carey for the new version. In the “Made For Me” remix, Carey adds additional background vocals and a new verse.

“When I got the call from JD [Jermaine Dupri] to work on the ‘Made For Me’ remix, I said yes immediately,” explained Carey in a statement, per Billboard. “Muni is an amazing writer and performer, and this collaboration is a match made in heaven.”

The song was teased by both Dupri and Muni Long earlier this month on social media. “You know a song ain’t a song with out a remix baby,” the producer exclaimed on X. “ME AND MUHRYYYYAAAAAH GO BACK LIKE BABIES AND PACIFIIIIIII-YAAAAS,” shared Muni Long on Instagram.

“Made For Me” was initially released in September 2023 and became another viral moment for Muni Long, similar to the “Hrs And Hrs” trend in 2022. In January 2024, “Made For Me” landed on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, peaking at No. 20 in March. The ballad peaked at No. 1 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay Chart.

The Mariah Carey remix may not only add to chart success for “Made For Me,” but could add to its potential acclaim. Earlier this year, Jermaine Dupri voiced frustrations about the original song not being eligible for next year’s Grammy Award nominations due to it being submitted during the 2024 award season.
