Daylyt And J. Cole Serve Food For Thought On New Single,”A Plate Of Collard Greens”
Daylyt is back with his latest track, “A Plate Of Collard Greens,” and it’s a masterclass in lyrical storytelling.
Teaming up once again with J. Cole, the duo showcase an undeniable chemistry that fans have come to love. On “A Plate Of Collard Greens,” Daylyt dives deep into personal narratives, blending vivid imagery with Cole’s signature introspection, making for a compelling listening experience.
“It’s a body chopped in thirds/ I heard a lot of sheep in the circle/ And you the goat, the Judas comin’ to purge/ It hurt him everytime you splurge,” the West Coast wordsmith rhymes on the track’s opening verse, a lengthy stanza filled with dexterous musings.
Following a brief break in the action, J. Cole picks up the proverbial baton, taking the song home with an epic verse that aligns with that of his costar.
“What fate has not foreseen/ My brain stained, engrained with the stories of slain bodies from heinous robberies/ And rated R regimes, exchanging raw for cream/ Tricked ’em and went left, they pull up shootin’ like Tatum off a screen” he raps while sauntering atop a backdrop provided by Python P & Saint Pat.
Daylyt and J. Cole’s collaborative history is rich, as the two previously joined forces on the track “Pi” from Cole’s 2024 release, Might Delete Later.
The pair serve up another heaping of food for thought with “A Plate Of Collard Greens,” an explosive display of emceeing that puts the focus on not only the beat, but each artists’ rhymes about life.
