Joyce Wrice Announces Sophomore Album ‘Machiko’
Rising R&B star Joyce Wrice is set to release her highly anticipated sophomore album, ‘Machiko,’ on October 9 via BMG Records.
Rising R&B singer Joyce Wrice will release her second album, Machiko, Oct. 9 via BMG Records. The album’s title, which means ‘city girl’ in Japanese, is also Wrice’s middle name and symbolizes a wish for boundless hope.
Machiko is described as “a self-examination of the patterns, the fear of being seen, and what love looks like when you stop protecting yourself – sensual, playful, and a little reckless, flirting with the risk instead of flinching from it.”
As Wrice puts it: “I’m not heartbroken and jaded anymore. This era is about living fully, confidently, and fearlessly.”
Machiko will feature production by D’Mile, Jay Versace, Lido, Mack Keane and Malik Ninety. The album will also include “Break Me In,” “Crack The Code” and the latest single, “Fly (Someone You Love)” featuring Salimata.
On the latter track, Wrice sings about the euphoria of a newfound romance. “The way your eyes lookin’ at me right now / Got me thinkin’ I could fly / I could be someone you love,” she sings.
Machiko will follow Wrice’s debut album, Overgrown, released in 2021. The following year, she treated fans to her Motive EP that included the Kaytranada-produced “Iced Tea.”
Regarding her debut album, Wrice told Rated R&B, “I had some experiences and went through a lot of different emotions and lost myself. I was able to use these studio sessions as opportunities to put how I’m feeling in song form and take what I was writing in my journal into the music.”
