India Shawn Returns with New EP ‘Subject to Change’ and Lead Single ‘Rain on Me’
A New Chapter for India Shawn
After a four-year hiatus from project releases, R&B songstress India Shawn is officially returning to the spotlight. The talented singer-songwriter has announced her upcoming EP, Subject to Change, which is slated for release on May 1 via Vanta Music. This project marks a significant milestone in her career, signaling a fresh artistic direction and a renewed focus on her signature soulful sound.
The EP is executive produced by the acclaimed D’Mile, who co-owns the Vanta Music label alongside engineer John Kercy. Given D’Mile’s track record of crafting hits for some of the industry’s biggest names, fans can expect a polished, high-quality sonic experience that highlights Shawn’s vocal prowess and songwriting depth.
Introducing ‘Rain on Me’
To build anticipation for the project, Shawn has unveiled the lead single, “Rain on Me.” The track, which features production from D’Mile and Spencer Stewart, offers a hazy, atmospheric soundscape that perfectly complements Shawn’s smooth, emotive delivery. Lyrically, the song explores themes of vulnerability, security, and the desire to be loved in abundance.
“‘Rain On Me’ is the feeling every woman wants,” Shawn explained regarding the song’s inspiration. “To be loved in abundance and to feel secure with someone who sees her value and shows up for her fully.”

Building on a Strong Foundation
“Rain on Me” serves as Shawn’s first official release of 2026, following a productive 2025 that saw the release of several standalone singles, including “Gone,” “Cotton Candy Blvd” featuring Lucky Daye, and “Kill Switch.” While it remains to be seen whether these tracks will be included on the final tracklist for Subject to Change, they have certainly kept her momentum going among her dedicated fanbase.
This new EP follows her 2022 debut album, Before We Go (Deeper), which was released via Epic Records. That project was a critically acclaimed expansion of her 2021 EP, Before We Go, a collection that solidified her place in the modern R&B landscape with standout collaborations featuring Anderson .Paak, 6LACK, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
