Kendrick Lamar Introduces Surprise Album With ‘GNX’ Song Snippet

Kendrick Lamar dropped a new song snippet Friday (Nov. 22), introducing the masses to his surprise album of the same name, GNX.

Coming in at just one-minute long, the clip first shared to K. Dot’s official YouTube page begins with the camera entering a large room featuring two cars on either side and what appears to be a large skylight resembling a portal between them. Kendrick is then seen sitting in, then standing next to one of the vehicles rocking a blue fitted and sneakers, white tee, blue jeans and leather jacket. He later sits beneath the massive skylight and looks up, seemingly to the heavens, as his soft voiceover raps of being “reincarnated with love” and knowing that “everybody must be judged, but this time God only favoring us.”

At the 52 second mark, however, Kendrick turns up the aggression, rapping of going “body for body” and being able to “clear out the room” when necessary before a scream interrupts the flow and “GNX” appears, wrapping up the clip. Check it out above.

Surprise release GNX landed on streaming services Friday (Nov. 22) as well, featuring 12 tracks spanning 44 minutes. The album took social media by storm, with several fans sharing their disbelief.

“Kendrick dropped? omgggg LET’S GOOOOOOO,” wrote one Kendrick supporter, with another adding, “KENDRICK IS THE BEST RAPPER EVER. HANDS DOWN. ITS NOT CLOSE. I DONT WANNA HEAR SH*T!!!!!”

While it’s still early, it appears track 3, “Luther,” featuring SZA is already a fan-favorite.

“A Luther sample with a SZA feature??? Nah Kendrick really bout it,” wrote one fan, with another sharing “SZA and Kendrick just sound so good over this Luther Vandross sample.”
