TV Writer Jas Waters Passes Away at 39

TV Writer and journalist, Jas Waters, also known as Jas Fly, has died in her Hollywood home at the age of 39. Waters is most known for her works with NBC’s This Is Us, VH1’s The Breaks, and Jim Carrey’s Kidding.

A cause of death has yet to be confirmed. However, representatives at Rain Management Group have confirmed the journalist’s passing in a Twitter statement.

“It is with extremely heavy hearts that all of us at RMG mourn the life of our client & friend, Jas Waters. Jas was a talented & gifted writer, an amazing person, & a sweet soul who will be forever missed. Though she is no longer with us, her impact will be felt for years to come,” the Tweet read.

The This Is Us writer’s room paid tribute to Waters in a statement on Twitter. “The entire #ThisIsUs family was devastated to learn of Jas Waters passing. In our time together, Jas left her mark on us and ALL over the show. She was a brilliant storyteller and a force of nature. We send our deepest sympathies to her loved ones. She was one of us. RIP @JasFly.”

Celebrities Joe Budden and SZA were among many who has honored the hip-hop journalist in a post on their social media. “Many of us are in a lot of pain tonight,” Budden wrote under a photo of Waters. “The person who would know the perfect thing to say to brighten our spirits has gone home….. i love you, trust you and will miss you.. Rest peacefully Queen Jas.”

SZA retweeted one of the writer’s old tweets and quoted, “Thank you for your time here and honest perfectly put words rest in Love queen #jasfly.”
