Muni Long’s ‘Made For Me’ Spends 10th Week at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales Chart
Muni Long continues her domination on Billboard.
Her latest hit, “Made For Me,” is No. 1 for a 10th week on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart, remaining her longest-running No. 1 on this chart. It’s worth noting that “Made For Me” is Long’s second entry on this chart behind “Hrs and Hrs,” which reigned for five weeks in 2022.
Elsewhere on Billboard this week, “Made For Me” is No. 1 for a fourth week on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, No. 1 for a second week on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, No. 3 on Rhythmic AIrplay, No. 3 on Hot R&B Songs, No. 8 on R&B Streaming Songs, No. 8 on Adult R&B Airplay, and No. 35 on the Hot 100, among other charts.
Additionally, “Made For Me” climbed to No. 1 at rhythmic radio this week. The song, produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, Jermaine Dupri, and Jordan XL, previously topped urban and R&B radio.
In an interview with Genius, Long shared the story behind creating “Made For Me.”
“I really want people to understand how epic the musical production side of this song really is. It is strong. I started ‘Made for Me’ at home with Jelli [Dorman], who is one of the engineers I work with. It was just piano vocal. So we took it to JD and Brian-Michael Cox, and they actually produced the record,” said Long.
She continued, “Shout out to them for believing in a young artist. JD was like, ‘I’m telling you, I’m telling you this record is a monster.’ And I was like, ‘All right JD.’ He just texted me this morning and was like, ‘I be knowing. I told you so.’ He was right. I’m gonna give you that.”
“Made For Me” is the first single from Long’s forthcoming album, which will release this year on Supergiant Records/Def Jam Recordings. The project will follow her 2022 debut, Public Displays of Affection: The Album.
Public Displays of Affection included Long’s Grammy-winning single “Hrs and Hrs.”
