Moneybagg Yo Donates Face Masks To The Faculty And Students Of Tennessee School District, Participates In Virtual Block Party

Shelby County Schools (SCS) in Tennessee and Mouth of the South are back again, this time hosting a “Virtual Block Party” that in recent years has assisted in promoting anti-violence and meeting enrollment and registration goals for SCS. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has devastated so much in our community we have decided to make this years’ experience virtual. Memphis’ own Rap superstar Moneybagg Yo will donate 10,000 facemasks to the faculty and students of SCS.

“Some may consider this worldwide health crisis a lose, lose situation for schools and education,” said Dr. Joris M. Ray, Superintendent, SCS. “But CHANGE CHAMPIONS claim this to be a WIN, WIN for our children. As the Shelby County Schools period to choose learning options closes this week, we’re grateful for our partners at iHeart Media and Mouth of the South for uplifting our community and helping our parents make an informed decision. With the health and safety of our families, educators, and staff as our top priority, we will RETURN STRONGER.”

National rap artist and Memphis native Moneybagg Yo believes that it is important to give back to the community that has been so supportive of him. “This pandemic has negatively affected so many lives, but it has also shown that there is power in numbers, and that no matter who you are you can bring positive change,” said Moneybagg Yo. “I hope that these masks play a part in keeping our children and teachers safe as we continue to find more ways that we can assist.”

As an extension of the annual Safe Summer Block Party Series, founder and event organizer Artemis “Peppa” Williams says that this event is needed now more than ever. “We are in unprecedented times that require us all to do more,” said Williams. “I commend Moneybagg, SCS and all other entities that are going above and beyond for our students in these difficult times.”
