Bryson Tiller Announces Self-Titled Album, Shares New Song ‘Calypso’
It’s officially Bryson Tiller season. The trapsoul singer has announced his self-titled album releases April 5 on RCA Records.
Tiller shared the news in a trailer shared across his social media accounts. In the cinematic sci-fi clip, Tiller is in a laboratory building an AI-powered robot. As he’s working, Tiller’s love interest voices her concern about the potential dangers of AI and tries to talk him out of it: “Just please don’t bring that thing home.”
After being satisfied with his fifth version, Tiller looks into his webcam to celebrate. “We finally f*****g did it. You know, they counted us out for years… can’t count him out, though,” he says. “I thought version one was perfect and he wasn’t. Can’t wait for you guys to meet him.” Towards the end, the robotic Tiller awakens before the camera fades to black, signaling there could be more to the story.
The 19-track album will include the 2022 lead single “Outside,” the blazing bonus track “Whatever She Wants” and the second single, “Calypso,” which is out today.
“Calypso” is a melodic groove in which Tiller sings about a late-night encounter with a woman at a club. He notices a familiar face standing by the exit and proceeds to send her a text. While she is ready to get home since it’s late, Tiller convinces her to stay, and the two rendezvous on the dancefloor. As the song progresses, Tiller is ready to take the party to his bed.
Bryson Tiller is the follow-up to his 2021 projects, A N N I V E R S A R Y (Deluxe) and A Different Christmas. The album was originally slated to release in fall 2022. However, as Tiller’s trailer indicates, he spent some time refining it until he believed it was ready.
While there may have been some delays, Tiller kept his fans engaged via Tiller Tuesdays, a weekly series where he shared an unreleased song on his SoundCloud.
