2 NYPD Officers Shot, 1 Stabbed in Brooklyn
There’s absolutely no reason for Flatbush to be looted, but the NYPD wanted to take precautionary measures anyway. During their patrol, two officers were shot and one was stabbed.
Around 11:45 pm a man allegedly walked up to the officers and stabbed him on the left side of his neck with a knife.
Police allege the man stole one of the officers’ gun and wounded the two other cops.
“We know that we had a chaotic scene, with a knife recovered, as well. In the ensuing, we had the perpetrator struck multiple times. He is here and he is in critical condition,” NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said outside Kings County Hospital. “We had two police officers shot in the hand, and we have a third police officer that is stabbed in the neck. All police officers, at this point in time, thank God, are in stable condition and are expected to recover.”
Investigators are reportedly reviewing the bodycam footage and the commissioner says 22 shells were recovered from the scene on Flatbush Avenue and Church Avenue.
This is the second police-involved shooting in less than 24 hours in Brooklyn.
The day before, officers gunned down a man who they claimed was armed in Crown Heights. He was shot over a dozen times after shooting another man and refusing to drop to his weapon.
These incidents come days after George Floyd was murdered by the Minnesota police department while he was unarmed and handcuffed on the ground.
