Usher Commemorates 20th Anniversary Of ‘Confessions,’ Says “Part 2 Is On My Mind”

March 23 marked the 20th anniversary of Usher‘s magnum opus, Confessions. Despite this anniversary being relatively quiet compared to My Way‘s 25th anniversary, the crooner still paid tribute to the album that changed R&B and his life.

In a special tribute on Instagram, he wrote, “20 years ago today, we dropped the iconic ‘Confessions’ album, which is now 14x Platinum.” Ursher revealed that Confessions is the “highest RIAA certified album by a male soloist released this century.”

He continued, “The love and support from my Day 1s has been nothing short of incredible. Thank you for rocking with me through every lyric, every beat, and every confession. Thank you to each and every important collaborator that was apart of this very special project that helped mold and shape my career as an artist. Without you, ‘Confessions’ wouldn’t be the masterpiece it is.”

Usher concluded, “Here’s to the memories, the vibes, and the timeless music that continues to move us. Let’s keep making history!!”

After years of teasing a sequel but later confirming that his latest album, Coming Home, was never intended to be a follow-up, the 45-year-old wrote in a pinned comment under the tribute, “Part 2 is on my mind.” So, fans may actually get a Confessions, Pt. II LP.

Collaborators Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox also celebrated the anniversary of Confessions with tributes of their own.

JD wrote, “Happy 20th anniversary!! Thank you Usher & L.A. Reid for allowing me to be a part of this masterpiece. I remember it like it was yesterday. After we recorded, ‘Let It Burn,’ Usher wanted to go record in LA, I was scared we were gonna lose our mojo in a different city, but myself and @bryanmichaelcox packed up and met him at Brandon‘s way and the rest is certified 14 million.”

Meanwhile, B. Cox posted a recent photo of the “Real Big 3,” writing, “Still family. Still making dope s**t. Always. Love you both!” The trio reunited for “On The Side,” “Believe,” and “I Am The Party” from Coming Home.
