Spice Brings Dancehall Flare To The Rodeo In New “Round, Round” Music Video

Spice has returned with new visuals for her latest song, “Round, Round,” and it’s giving dancehall at the rodeo. The “Queen of Dancehall” debuted the Sergio Parra-directed video with BET on Thursday (June 27), showing off country-inspired visuals and a feature from Busta Rhymes. Spice performs the song in a blue cowgirl-sequined get-up as she twerks and postures around a horse and a barnyard. Busta understood the assignment, too, performing his verse in a cowboy outfit, complete with a hat, fringe jacket, and some Black Timberlands.

And the lyrics marry both the country and the dancehall elements as well, with Spice chanting on the chorus in her signature delivery, singing, “I got this a** in the club/ He wanna rub, make him go hee-haa, hee-haa/ Up and down like seesaw, seesaw/ ‘Round, ’round, ’round, and ’round/ Fling that a**, go ’round and ’round/ ‘Round, ’round, ’round and ’round/ Shake that a**, make it touch the ground.”

The dancehall deejay and singer spoke about her “new era” with BET, where she disclosed that her new album, Mirror 25, celebrates her 25 years in the game. Spice later elaborated on her decision to blend two opposing aesthetics on “Round, Round,” and described it as her “mission to push Jamaican culture around the world.”

“As I venture into a new era of my music career, celebrating 25 years, I am excited to share a new extension of my sound with my besties. Collaborating with the legendary icon Busta Rhymes is an honor, and I’m elated to be able to push my Jamaican culture in such an iconic way,” she said.

Spice’s Mirror 25 is set for a summer 2024 release date, with “Round, Round” as the LP’s lead single. The singer told the outlet that the album is dancehall but blends elements of Hip-Hop, alternative, country, and techno into the mix. Mirror 25 will be released through her own label, Spice Official Entertainment, and distributed through Empire.
