Rick Ross Wages War Against Drake In “Champagne Moments” Music Video
Rick Ross drops off the visuals for “Champagne Moments,” the Miami rapper’s diss record taking aim at Drake amid the former collaborators’ escalating beef.
The clip finds Rozay seated on a chair by one of his luxury vehicles, with a couple bottles of alcohol on a stand besides him. Clad in a green tweed top, matching green sneakers and his signature shades, the MMG leader keeps things simple and clean while addressing his newfound adversary.
On the song, Ross claps back in response to shots taken by Drake on his own diss track “Push Ups,” on which he slyly references Ross’ stint as a correctional officer prior to his star turn. The lyricist alludes to Drake’s alleged history of using ghostwriters to pen his hits and alleges that the quality of his music and his popularity have both dipped in recent times.
“Record label takin’ a loss, are you in your bag?/ You a worker wantin’ to chart, don’t make me laugh/ Get to mine, tell by my watch, this a different time/ Livin’ fine, I’m gettin’ high as your sh*t decline,” The Bawse rhymes on the opening verse.
Now friends turned foes, Rick Ross and Drake’s history dates back more than a decade, with the pair appearing alongside each other on numerous occasions. Some of their biggest hits together include “I’m On One,” “Stay Schemin’,” and “Lord Knows.”
Drama between the pair first surfaced when Rick Ross posted a clip on Instagram of himself listening to Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s hit single “Like That,” on which the rap star disses Drake and J. Cole for “cliquing up” on Drake’s “First Person Shooter” record.
Prior to unleashing “Push Ups,” Drake would seemingly respond to Ross and his other rivals during a live performance in Ross’ homestate last month. “A lot of people asking me how I’m feelin’,” he told the crowd in Amerant Bank Arena.
“I got my head up high, my back straight. I’m 10 f**king toes down in Florida or anywhere else I go. And I know no matter what there’s not a ni**a on this Earth that could ever f**k with me in my life.”
