Macklemore Jabs Drake In Protest Song Calling For Palestine Support

Macklemore is over the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle, and wants fans to focus on what’s happening in Palestine. On Monday (May 6), the Seattle rapper took to Instagram to post what appears to be an upcoming music video for a song called “Hind’s Hall.”

“‘HIND’S HALL.’ Once it’s up on streaming, all proceeds to UNRWA,” he captioned the clip. Footage from collegiate protests mixed in with violence from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict plays at a consistent speed while the rapper pays tribute to innocent Palestinians who have lost their lives at the hands of oppressive tyranny. Macklemore highlights Hind Rajab, the 6-year-old Palestinian child who was killed by an Israeli strike on Gaza in March while she was awaiting assistance.

During the time of her death, she was trapped in a vehicle without any way out, surrounded by her family’s corpses. Towards the end of the track, Macklemore emphasizes how important this matter is and dismisses Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s beef, calling a possible Drake response irrelevant compared to life or death matters of the real world.

“The music industry’s quiet/ Complicit in their platform of silence/ What happened to the artist/ What you got to say/ If I was on a label you could drop me today/ and be fine with it because the heart fed my page/ I want a ceasefire, f**k a response from Drake,” he rapped.

Elsewhere in the song, Macklemore doubles-down on other political matters. The Grammy Award-winner calls out President Joe Biden for “funding” a genocide of Palestinian people, all while stating that he is currently undecided on the 2024 presidential election. However, he asserted that he wouldn’t make the mistake of voting for Biden again.

Macklemore then aims at law enforcement while shouting out West Coast legends NWA for teaching him to say “f**k the police.” Mack’s political diss track also jabs at organizations which have contributed financial assistance to the mass bloodshed, which has led to the deaths of 34,683 Palestinians at the hands of Israeli forces, per Anadolu Ajansi. Mack also calls bull on people claiming that folks calling for a cease-fire are anti-semites.

Actors in badges protecting property/And a system that was designed by white supremacy /But the people are in the streets/You can pay off Meta, you can’t pay off me/Politicians who serve by any means/AIPAC, CUFI, and all the companies/You see, we sell fear around the land of the free/But this generation here is about to cut the strings/You can ban TikTok, take us out the algorithm/But it’s too late, we’ve seen the truth, we bear witness/Seen the rubble, the buildings, the mothers and the children/And all the men that you murdered, and then we see how you spin it/Who gets the right to defend and who gets the right of resistance/Has always been about dollars and the color of your pigment, but/White supremacy is finally on blast/Screamin’ “Free Palestine” ’til they’re home at last,” Mack poignantly adds.
