Kanye West And Ty Dolla $ign Release New ‘Vultures 2’ Songs, But Not On DSPs
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign have released a few songs from their forthcoming Vultures 2 project, but not in the expected way. The records are available to be played exclusively via certain social media platforms.
Ye fan accounts discovered that “River” featuring Young Thug and Leon Bridges and “Everybody,” which samples the Backstreet Boys, can be streamed on Instagram and TikTok. Users can also add the records to their posts.
Other songs, such as “Worship,” “Promotion” featuring Future, “Slide” featuring James Blake, and “Field Trip” featuring Playboi Carti, Kodak Black, Lil Durk, and Don Toliver were also available via Instagram and TikTok. Fans who scour the web for download links will likely find ways to add them to their iTunes library, but these songs are not available on Apple Music or Spotify at the time of publishing.
This comes a few days after Kanye West revealed he planned to release Vultures 2 through his official website. “Was talking with the team about how to release the next album,” he said in a conversation with one of his fan accounts named YEFANATICS. “Like James Blake said, streaming devalues our music. We sell albums on Yeezy.com”
He broke down the potential profit based on his 20 million Instagram followers, and was interested how the fan account felt about him selling via his website. “When five percent of my followers buy an album. That’s one million albums sold,” he wrote. “That’s 300K more than the biggest album last year. We sold 1 million items on Yeezy.com on Super Bowl Sunday so we know it’s possible. How do you feel about us not streaming and only selling the album digitally.”
Vultures 2 is the follow-up to his February album, Vultures 1. The two are part of a larger trilogy. Ye has seen success from Vultures 1, as the album hit No. 1 on iTunes after the project was removed from streaming multiple times. This week, his record “Carnival” with Ty Dolla $ign, Rich The Kid, and Playboi Carti hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
