Eminem Takes Aim At Diddy, Kanye West, And More On New ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’ Album
Eminem‘s latest chapter has finally been unveiled, and he name-drops a few polarizing figures on wax to up the ante. On his brand new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), released on Friday (July 12), the Detroit legend jabs at figures like Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kanye West, Ja Rule, and others.
The tracklist spans 19 tracks, which includes three skits and features from Big Sean, Babytron, JID, White Gold, Sly Pyper, Bizarre, Ez Mil, Jelly Roll, Skylar Grey, and 2 Chainz.
On “Antichrist,” he disses Diddy by referencing the recently surfaced footage of him physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016. He also pokes at the ongoing rumors about the Bad Boy founder’s sexuality. “Next idiot ask me is gettin’ his a** beat worse than Diddy did [pause]/ But on the real, though/ She prolly ran out the room with his f**kin’ dildo/ He try to field goal punt her, she said to chill/ Now put it back in my a** and get the steel toe,” Em raps.
The attacks intensify on the JID-assisted “Fuel,” where Em raps about the sexual assault allegations against Diddy, his relations with the late Biggie Smalls, and more: “I’m like a R-A-P-E-R/ Got so many S-As, S-As/ Wait, he didn’t just spell the word ‘rapper’ and leave out a P, did he?/ R.I.P., rest in peace Biggie/ And ‘Pac, both of y’all should be living/ But I ain’t tryna beef with him/ ‘Cause he might put a hit on me like Keefe D did him.”
The “All About The Benjamins” artist isn’t the only one Em was taking aim at, as he drops a bar about Kanye West on “Bad One.” He raps, “Brain is dead, space cadet/ Like when Ye forgets to take his meds.”
Lizzo also catches one on “Road Rage,” where he mentions her during his tirade about overweight people. “Ain’t never really truly over ’til Lizzo sings/ We should coddle fat people, yeah, here’s a concept, let’s celebrate onset/ Diabetes and instead of us dieting we can just have a pie-eating contest,” he spits.
Prior to the full reveal, Eminem executed a calculated album rollout that drove home the “end of an era” concept behind the album. As stated in the title, the new LP is based on retiring his “Slim Shady” moniker. The rollout included a trailer about a police investigation surrounding him, “White Rapper” merch in collaboration with White Castle, and even an obituary in the Detroit Free Press newspaper.
