Did Beyoncé Just Reveal The ‘COWBOY CARTER’ Tracklist?
We’re just days away from Beyoncé‘s act ii, and the singer has seemingly unveiled the tracklist for her new album, COWBOY CARTER.
In addition to the two lead singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” the “Cowboy Carter and The Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit” flyer boasts song titles like “Ameriican Requiem,” “Blackbird,” “My Rose,” “Levii’s Jeans,” “II Most Wanted, “II Hands, II Heaven,” “Amen,” “Sweet Honey Buckin’,” “Desert Eagle,” “Alliigator Tears,” “Smoke Hour II,” and “Just For Fun.”
Bey also teased potential features from Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Linda Martell after confirming last week that the LP would have a “few surprises” and that she collaborated with “some brilliant artists who I deeply respect.” She also noted that COWBOY CARTER is not a country album, but a “Beyoncé album.”
Earlier this month, Parton hinted at the possibility of Bey covering her hit record, “Jolene.” The country star told Knox News, “I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that. I love her! She’s a beautiful girl and a great singer.”
Back in 2020, the 78-year-old shared her desire for Bey to record her own version of “Jolene.”
She told Big Issue, “Nobody’s ever had a really big hit record on it. I’ve always hoped somebody might do someday, someone like Beyoncé.”
The Houston native has already detailed the meaning behind COWBOY CARTER while acknowledging the history she’s made with “Texas Hold ‘Em” as the first Black woman to top Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart.
Of the feat and new album, Bey shared, “My hope is that years from now, the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed… and it was very clear that I wasn’t. Because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of country music and studied our rich musical archive… I hope that you can hear my heart and soul, and all the love and passion that I poured into every detail and every sound.”
In addition to the tracklist, Uber has teased a potential collaboration with Bey. More details are set to come on Thursday, Mar. 28 at 2 p.m. ET.
