Cardi B Teases Unreleased Janet Jackson-Sampling Track: Listen

Cardi B‘s upcoming album is arguably one of the most anticipated releases of the year, and fans just got another teaser to play into the hype. On Monday night (July 1), the Bronx representative posted a new snippet on her Instagram story of an unreleased track, which contained a Janet Jackson sample.

In the short video, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper is seen sitting in a car with the lights down low as she showed off her melodic side. “I hope that you on your way/ Crazy ’bout you, waiting on you, can’t wait to sit on that face/ Focused on you,” she croons over a sample of “Funny How Time Flies (When You’re Having Fun).”

The story’s caption fueled speculation that the song would be a part of her next album. “Y’all like this vibe for CB2?” it read.

The song appeared on Jackson’s Control in 1986 and was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It was officially released in the United Kingdom and Australia and dropped solely for airplay in the United States in 1987. Check out Cardi’s new snippet below.

The Bardi Gang has been patiently waiting for album updates all year, and the journey has been a roller coaster. In May, Cardi tweeted that the LP will not be dropping, only to delete the post shortly after and recant her statement.

“I hate that I fall back and start interacting again and it bites me in the a**,” she wrote at the time. “Anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year.. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.”

More recently, the mother of two teased the possibility of releasing an album that would be entirely in Spanish. She gauged the idea by using Instagram’s poll feature and the results overwhelmingly favored the idea, with 380,127 affirmative votes, per PEOPLE.

The following day, she treated her fans with a confirmation, typing, “OK AFTER MY ENGLISH ALBUM.”
