Cardi B Shares Snippet Of New Song Sampling Missy Elliott’s Classic Hit “She’s A Bi**h”
Cardi B appears to be preparing for the rollout of her forthcoming album. This week, she heightened the anticipation by teasing the pending release of a new song sampling one of Missy Elliott‘s signature hits.
On Tuesday (Feb. 27), the Bronx bombshell reposted a clip from a fan account’s Instagram page that includes a snippet of an unreleased track from Cardi.
The brief release, which was initially uploaded by the @cardiallaccess fan account, finds Cardi B rhyming, “I ain’t even got dressed/ Every L that I took come after YS/ Oh, man” over a beat reminiscent of Missy Elliott’s 1999 single, “She’s a Bi**h.”
The clip is captioned with the hashtag #CardiCountdown, a seeming reference to the looming arrival of her long-awaited sophomore album.
Cardi B has been open about her affinity and respect for Missy Elliott’s influence on Hip-Hop and the evolution of the female emcee on multiple occasions. In 2019, Cardi presented Elliott with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. “Everybody has copied from Missy Elliott! Even me! I don’t care, so what!” the hitmaker said at the time.
“From the inflatable suit, to the knee-high Adidas, to the bug-eyed shades, and the attitude that infused every look in every video. She was always 100% Missy, and a champion for women who wanted to be doing their own thing. Missy has inspired countless young women to find their own voice and stand up for themselves. She’s constantly sending inspirational vibes more than ever. She’s a voice we need.”
