Big Sean Seemingly Disses Kanye West In ‘On The Radar’ Freestyle
Big Sean seemingly sent a couple shots at Kanye West, and he didn’t hold back. On Tuesday (July 16), the Detroit emcee dropped his latest freestyle at On the Radar, where he sent a couple of shots at an unnamed figure.
Rhyming over Timbaland and Aaliyah’s “If Your Girl Only Knew,” Sean spit subliminals at someone thirsty for beef who got matching tattoos with another man for “clout.” Sean then made it clear who the unknown figure was after he addressed having to “switch the home team” after they committed “treason.”
“I had to switch the home team ’cause they committed treason,” he rapped. “Ni**as looking for engagement like they got their knee bent/ I got better things to do than to find someone to beef with.”
“Man, this industry is terrible, I can’t even vouch/ I’ve seen grown men get matching tattoos for the clout,” he later added.
For context, Kanye West infamously appeared on a 2021 episode of Drink Champs where he dissed Big Sean, asserting that signing him to G.O.O.D. Music was the “worst thing he ever did.” Then in 2002, Ye, Steve Lacy, and Lil Uzi Vert all got matching tats that state, “We here forever technically.”
However, there appears to be a ton of people who may have missed or forgotten this bit of Black music lore, as netizens immediately thought Sean was dissing Kendrick Lamar. One figure in particular, DJ Akademiks, ran with the story and posted his claims to his Instagram page.
After the freestyle hit the web, Sean sent out a series of posts on X/Twitter calling out beef-hungry folks running with the narrative.
“N f**k these bi**h a** ni**az, every one of them,” he typed. “Yall goin wit so many narratives, im talking to da haters who just keep finding something to point out they dont like bout me. Its not even worth explaining tho im a just focus on the music.”
Sean then peeped Ak’s IG post claiming that he was jabbing K. Dot and responded, typing, “Ak you know I f**k wit you,” he wrote in the comment section. “But I’m laughing cause you know that tweet n the video don’t got nothing to do with each other lol.”
DJ Hed then confirmed Sean’s claims. The West Coast DJ, who has ties with K. Dot, posted on X/Twitter where he stated that he had a conversation with Big Sean to clear up any confusion. “I talked to Sean. The bar was ‘I got better things to do than find someone to beef with,’ And it was not for Dot. Bar was directed at a different Gemini,” he typed, confirming that Sean was talking about Ye, not Kendrick.
