Khamari Announces Second Album ‘To Dry a Tear’
Emerging alt-R&B sensation Khamari has announced his sophomore album, To Dry a Tear, will release Aug. 22 via Encore Recordings.
“After two years my album TO DRY A TEAR is out 8/22. you can pre-save the album, and pre-order the vinyl from my bio now,” he wrote in a social media post.
The 11-track album will include the singles “Head in a Jar,” “Sycamore Tree” and “Lonely in the Jungle.”
Regarding the latter track, Khamari explained, “‘Lonely in the Jungle’ and my first single ‘Head in a Jar’ are two parts of the same scene. It’s about being surrounded by so much yet still feeling alone.” He added, “I was really inspired by what Jeff Buckley did so well – putting a certain alternative rock energy and musicality behind these soulful songs that were really blues in form and emotion.”
In an interview with Spotify’s RNB X Magazine, Khamari shared some of the themes he explores on To Dry a Tear. “It’s still pretty introspective. I talk about trust, desire, fear, addiction. The idea that maybe you don’t have what you want because you don’t know what that is yet.”
He also revealed some artists who inspired the project: “Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, Jeff Buckley, Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer, Kendrick [Lamar], The Beatles. I was inspired by great storytellers.”
To Dry a Tear follows his 2023 debut album, A Brief Nirvana, which was released on RCA Records. It featured the singles “Doctor, My Eyes,” “Drifting,” “Tell Me” and “These Four Walls.”
