Charles Barkley isn’t so sure canceling the season will accomplish anything good.

Kyrie Irving is bringing an interesting debate to the NBA right now as he believes the season shouldn’t be continued, especially with all of the social unrest going on. In fact, Kyrie would much rather focus his attention on social justice and he believes the players should be operating with that same attitude, as well.

Today on ESPN’s Get Up!, Charles Barkley expressed disagreement with Kyrie’s idea, noting that it could prove to be “catastrophic” if the NBA had to close up shop. As Barkley explains, the league could stand to lose billions of dollars. Not to mention, if the players aren’t on the court, they won’t be able to use their platforms to create change. For the NBA legend, it’s a lose-lose situation.

“I think it will be stupid to not play for 2 reasons,” Barkley said. “Number 1, if they don’t play, they’re gonna be ‘Out of Sight, Out of Mind’ for the rest of the year. They’re gonna lose billions of dollars that the players could use to go into their own communities and do some great stuff. So, it’s not good on any part.”

At this point, it remains to be seen what the league and its players will decide upon. Regardless, stay tuned for updates as we will be sure to bring them to you.
