Victoria Monét’s ‘On My Mama’ Tops Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart
Victoria Monét’s breakout single “On My Mama” rises from No. 2 to No. 1 this week on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart. It’s the Grammy-winning singer’s first No. 1 on this chart.
“On My Mama” debuted on the chart in the week dated Aug. 19, 2023. It reached the top 10 during the week of Nov. 25, 2023. “On My Mama” is Monét’s second single to appear on the Adult R&B Airplay. Her 2021 single “Coastin’” peaked at No. 18 and spent 22 total weeks on the chart.
Beyond the Adult R&B Airplay chart, “On My Mama” previously topped the following: Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (for two weeks) and R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (for two weeks). At radio, “On My Mama” peaked at No. 1 on the following formats: rhythmic, urban, and as of this week, R&B.
“On My Mama” is also making strides on the Billboard Hot 100. It has spent 24 weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 33 last month. At the time of publication, the 2000s-inspired bop is No. 41.
“On My Mama,” produced by Deputy, Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman and D’Mile, is from Monét’s Grammy-winning album, JAGUAR II.
Monét explained:” ‘On My Mama’ is the soundtrack to positive affirmations. I wrote it postpartum when I wasn’t feeling my best, but spoke to how I wanted to feel. Singing the lyrics about yourself will change your frequency, and elevate a positive mental state.”
She added, “The words speak not only to physical features, but to a feeling too because I believe when you feel good you look even better! Give yourself the words you need to hear because it’s true, you look good! There’s no one like you and that’s on ya mama. Enjoy being yourself witcha fine ass!”
JAGUAR II was released Aug. 25, 2023, via RCA Records. It debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, earning Monét her first top 10 on this chart.
JAGUAR II won Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical at the 66th Grammy Awards in February. Monét also took home the trophy for Best New Artist.
Monét is scheduled to perform at a few festivals this spring and summer, including Coachella, Roots Picnic and Governors Ball.
