Victoria Monét Announces ‘Jaguar II (Deluxe)’ Album Release Date

As promised, Victoria Monét is set to release a deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning album Jaguar II.

The singer-songwriter has announced Jaguar II (Deluxe) will release Oct. 4 via RCA Records. The expanded set will include all 11 songs from the original album plus 10 new tracks.

The 21-track offering will include the recently shared “SOS (Sex on Sight)” with Usher and Monét’s “We Might Even Be Falling In Love (Duet)” with Bryson Tiller. The latter song was released on Valentine’s Day in 2023 as a Spotify Singles exclusive.

“I’ve always wanted to extend the interludes from Jaguar Part 1 and was so happy to hear Bryson liked this song enough to make it a little longer. Hope you all enjoy hearing his voice on it as much as I do!” said Monét.

Regarding her recent collaboration with R&B icon Usher, Monét shared, “‘SOS (Sex on Sight)’ is about desire. It’s about the urgency you feel when you need some love, physical touch and quality attention! Sometimes that desire can feel as urgent as being rescued from a natural disaster, or in this case, rescued from your own sensual urges.”

Monét added, “Just like a storm, ‘SOS’ summons and forewarns a lover of the rainfall that is to come and welcomes the beautiful relief from that desire. It feels romantic, playful, sultry and direct. Based in fantasy and the warmest tones of R&B. It feels timeless and we hope you enjoy the escape!”

At the time of publication, a tracklist for Jaguar II (Deluxe) has not been revealed. Once it’s shared, this story will be updated accordingly.

Jaguar II (Deluxe) will arrive over a year after the standard version. Jaguar II was released Aug. 25, 2023, and debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, with 15,000 equivalent units sold.

The album included the singles “Smoke” with Lucky Daye, “Party Girls” featuring Buju Banton, “On My Mama,” and the post-album single “Alright.”

Of the album’s singles, “On My Mama” propelled Monét into the mainstream R&B territory, topping multiple radio and Billboard charts.

Jaguar II earned Monét her first three Grammys, including Best R&B Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical), and Best New Artist.

Jaguar II followed Monét’s 2020 Jaguar EP. In a 2021 interview with Rated R&B, Monét hinted that Jaguar would be a trilogy. “I’m in the studio every day. At any chance, I could beat out one of the songs I have planned for part two or three, and the tracklist could change,” she said.

Monét continued, “I feel comfort in the fact that the bulk of the work is done. I’m just leaving some space open for chance. I loved so many of the songs. I was like, ‘I can’t put out a 50-song project. I need to pick the very best ones and give it to people slowly.’”

Although the plans for a trilogy eventually changed, the 10 added songs to the Jaguar II (Deluxe) should be enough to satisfy fans who were anticipating a part three.

In other news, Monét will perform at the 2024 ONE Musicfest in Atlanta, which takes place Oct. 26 and Oct. 27. Jill Scott, Cardi B, Earth, Wind & Fire, Monica, Fantasia, Keyshia Cole and many others are on the bill.
