Usher Announces ‘Confessions (20th Anniversary Edition)’

R&B megastar Usher has announced Confessions (20th Anniversary Edition) to celebrate his iconic album’s milestone.

The album will be reissued on 2-LP black vinyl and digitally with all the original songs plus two bonus tracks.

The added tracks include orchestral versions of his No. 1 hit “Burn” and the Grammy-nominated fan-favorite “Superstar.”

According to Usher’s online store, Confessions (20th Anniversary Edition) will release Nov. 1. The vinyl is priced at $42.98.

Usher’s fourth album, Confessions, was released March 23, 2004, via LaFace Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 1.1 million copies sold in the first week. It spent nine weeks atop the chart.

Confessions included the hit singles “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris, “Confessions, Pt. II,” “Burn” and “My Boo” with Alicia Keys.

The latter song appeared on Confessions (Special Edition), which was released later that August. All four singles reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Here is a breakdown of Usher’s chart domination:

  • “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris, No. 1 for 12 weeks
  • “Burn,” No. 1 for 8 weeks
  • “My Boo” with Alicia Keys, No. 1 for 6 weeks
  • “Confessions, Pt. II,” No. 1 for 2 weeks

At the 47th Grammy Awards in 2005, Usher won Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration (“Yeah!”) and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals (“My Boo”).

He was also nominated in the following categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year (“Yeah!”), Best R&B Song (“My Boo” and “Burn”), and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“Burn”).

In February, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) updated Confessions to 14x platinum for selling over 14 million equivalent units. The album, which first went diamond in 2008 for selling over 10 million copies, is his highest-certified project to date.

Several songs from Confessions also received updated RIAA certifications earlier this year, including:

  • “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris (13x platinum, 13 million units sold)
  • “Burn” (4x platinum, 4 million units sold)
  • “Confessions Pt. II” (3x platinum, 3 million units sold)
  • “Caught Up” (platinum, 1 million units sold)
  • “Superstar” (platinum, 1 million units sold)
  • “That’s What It’s Made For” (gold, 500,000 units sold)
  • “Can U Handle It?” (gold, 500,000 units sold)

Usher performed a few songs from Confessions at his Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show performance in February. The Emmy-nominated show included “Caught Up,” “My Boo,” “Confessions, Pt. II,” “Burn,” and “Yeah!” among other songs from his decade-spanning catalog.

Additionally, Usher performed Confessions in full at his headlining show at the 2024 Essence Festival in New Orleans.

Usher is currently on his Past Present Future World Tour, which kicked off in August at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The music icon performed two sold-out shows.

The North American leg will continue through the end of this year, where Usher will perform multiple nights in each city. In spring 2025, he will launch the U.K./Europe leg.

In other news, Usher teamed with rising R&B singer Victoria Monét on a steamy duet, “SOS (Sex On Sight),” produced by Camper.
