Trump Supporters Charged With Hate Crime For Painting Over #BlackLivesMatter Asphalt Mural In CA
According to several confirmed reports, the duo who were filmed desecrating a Black Lives Matter mural in the Bay Area were both charged with hate crimes.
Nichole Anderson and David Nelson were charged by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office with misdemeanor counts of possession of tools to make graffiti, vandalism under $400 and violation of civil rights for their actions on the Fourth of July. Nelson aided Anderson in her criminal conduct, playing bodyguard towards those who opposed Anderson painting over the mural.
Prosecutors are classifying it as a hate crime because under California penal code the alleged civil rights violation was motivated solely by the race of the victim.
The MAGA couple painted over the mural outside of a courthouse in Martinez, California. The asphalt painting was repainted after police tracked down the couple, who were not arrested, but ultimately charged by the Contra Costa D.A.
