Q Parker’s Single ‘Beg’ Debuts on Billboard
Q Parker (formerly of 112) has reappeared on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart as a solo artist after more than a decade.
The Grammy winner’s new single, “Beg,” bows at No. 26 on the airplay chart during the week ending Sept. 21. The list is currently led for a fifth week by Chris Brown’s hit “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay.
Q Parker’s last appearance on the Adult R&B Airplay chart was in 2012 with “Yes,” the second single from his debut album, The MANual, released that same year. The track peaked at No. 19 after spending 20 weeks on the chart.
Before that, Q Parker’s debut single, “Show You How,” was released in 2011 and marked his first appearance on the chart, peaking at No. 21.
As for the singles’ parent album, The MANual opened and peaked at No. 28 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the Nov. 17, 2012, issue.
Returning to the Adult R&B Airplay chart, although Q Parker hadn’t appeared solo there in 12 years, he reached No. 8 in 2017 with “Dangerous Games” as part of 112. The latter track is taken from the R&B group’s Q Mike Slim Daron album.
Billboard aside, Q Parker’s “Beg” is building momentum elsewhere. At Mediabase’s R&B radio, the Blac Elvis-produced cut climbs from No. 33 to No. 26 with over 321 spins and nearly 1.1 million audience impressions.
“We are in the BEGging season! Beg! Not because you did anything wrong, but just because you care, you love ’em, you value them, and do it every day,” Q Parker told Rated R&B of the song’s inspiration.
“Beg” marks Q Parker’s first solo song release since 2012. It’s also his first release of new material since “I Need You” and “Made For,” both of which were released in 2020. The latter pair of songs featured artists from the gospel and R&B talent pool.
