Normani’s ‘Dopamine’ Lands Top 10 Debut on Billboard’s R&B Albums Chart

Normani’s debut album, Dopamine, rockets to the top 10 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart in its first week. 

The album bows at No. 9 on the Top R&B Albums chart, led by SZA’s SOS for an 80th week. 

Elsewhere on Billboard, Dopamine debuts at No. 30 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, No. 46 on Top Current Album Sales, and No. 91 on the Billboard 200.

According to Chart DataDopamine sold 12,000 equivalent units in its first week. 

“All Yours,” the album’s latest focus track, opens at No. 16 on the Hot R&B Songs chart. The chart, led by Tommy Richman‘s “Million Dollar Baby” for an eighth week, highlights the week’s most popular R&B songs, ranked by streaming activity, radio airplay audience impressions, and sales data. 

Further, Normani’s “Candy Paint” re-enters Hot R&B Songs at No. 18 this week. The summer banger previously debuted at No. 13. 

RCA Records

Dopamine was released June 14 via RCA Records. The album was preceded by 2021’s “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B, “1:59” featuring Gunna, and “Candy Paint.” It also features background vocals on Brandy, who appears on “Insomnia.” 

Dopamine was mainly produced by Tommy Brown (Ariana GrandeThe Weeknd), with additional contributions from Stargate, Bizness Boi, HARV, Ari Pensmith, and more.

The album includes songwriting credits from Brittany “Starrah” Hazzard, Victoria Monét, Nija Charles, Sevyn Streeter, and others. Normani co-wrote every song on the 13-track set. 

“I feel like [Dopamine] embodies everything I wanted to say – it feels dominant, strong, assertive – but on the flipside, there are so many layers to it. You get the highs, the lows, the thrill of it all. And it’s a little toxic, too,” Normani told Dazed
