Muni Long’s ‘Ruined Me’ Enters Top 10 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart
Muni Long is keeping the hits flowing. Her latest single “Ruined Me” climbs from No. 11 to No. 8 this week on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
The soul-crushing ballad is Long’s fifth top 10 hit on this chart. Impressively, it’s also her fifth entry overall, with now each of her songs placing within the top region.
“Ruined Me” is Long’s third top 10 from her sophomore album, Revenge. The song debuted at No. 30 in the Sept. 7 issue.
Long previously went No. 1 for the first time on this chart with “Make Me Forget,” the album’s second single, released on May 31.
In December 2023, “Made For Me” capped at No. 2 on this chart during its viral surge. The platinum-selling tune, which topped R&B radio, was issued as the lead single from Revenge.
Turning back to “Ruined Me,” Long performed the gutwrenching cut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in September as part of the Revenge promo run.
In an interview with Rated R&B, Long explained why she chose to end the album with “Ruined Me.”
“Honestly, it was the last song that I had written and we already had the track listing and didn’t want to change it,” shared Long.
The song’s producer, Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, played a role in getting it included on the Revenge tracklist, even though the album was already complete.
Gitelman exclusively told Rated R&B, “She’s like, ‘Gitty. If we could get the stems over, this could actually be on the album, even though my album is literally done.’ She’s like, ‘This needs to be on the album.’ She wanted to get some sh*t off her chest, so I just provided the soundtrack.”
Revenge was released on Aug. 30 by Def Jam Recordings. The album contains 14 tracks and includes a feature from rapper GloRilla.
Speaking about the anticipated takeaways from Revenge, Long told Rated R&B, “I hope they get a couple lessons. Maybe feel like they got to know me a little bit better. I hope they have a couple favorites on there that they go back to.”
She continued, “I really try to make no-skip albums that you could just put on and let it play. I hope they f**k with it. I’m claiming I’ve made the R&B album of the year, so that’s what we want everybody to think or feel, should I say.”
