Muni Long’s ‘Make Me Forget’ Enters Top 10 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay Chart
Muni Long has achieved another top 10 hit on Billboard.
Her latest single, “Make Me Forget,” jumps from No. 15 to No. 10 on the Adult R&B Airplay chart, which is led by Lucky Daye’s “That’s You” for a second week.
The Tricky Stewart-produced ballad, which interpolates D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel),” is Long’s fourth top 10 hit on the Adult R&B Airplay chart.
Her previous visits include “Made For Me” (No. 2 peak), “Hrs & Hrs” (No. 2 peak), and “Honey” with John Legend (No. 4 peak).
At R&B radio, “Make Me Forget” rises from No. 13 to No. 8. J. Brown’s “If You Could See You” leads this week’s chart monitored by Mediabase.
According to the company, “Make Me Forget” received 862 spins (up 304 compared to last week) for an audience impression of 3.19 million.
Muni Long released “Make Me Forget” on May 31 as the follow-up to her platinum-selling single “Made For Me,” produced by Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Jordan XL.
Long compared the former song to “a warm bath.” She added, “It’s a love letter. It says, ‘You’re not perfect. We’ve got a lot of things to work on, but can we focus on the amazing feeling we have when we’re together?”
“Make Me Forget” and “Made For Me” will appear on Long’s sophomore album, Revenge, slated to release later this year on Supergiant Records/Def Jam.
Revenge is the follow-up to Long’s debut project, Public Displays of Affection: The Album, which featured her Grammy-winning hit “Hrs & Hrs.”
“When you think about revenge, you think about, ‘Oh, I’m gonna get you,’ but in my world, the best revenge is success, and continuing to show up and continuing to win and living my best life. That’s what this album is about,” Long told Josh “Bru” Brubaker of Audacy.
“The premise behind it is a bunch of relationship songs. I have a song about my best friend, songs about my relationship with cars, and things like that.”
Long is on the road with Chris Brown as a special guest for The 11:11 Tour. The R&B tour, which also includes support from rising singer Maeta, has upcoming stops in Houston, Austin, Denver, Seattle, and Vancouver.
The 11:11 Tour will wrap up Aug. 7 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Long’s setlist on tour includes new material from Revenge, including a gut-wrenching song titled “Ruined Me.”
A relate date for Revenge has not been announced yet.
