Missy Elliott, Ciara and Busta Rhymes Announce ‘Out of This World Tour’
Missy Elliott has announced her first-ever headlining tour, Out of This World: The Missy Elliott Experience.
The genre-bending icon will be joined by Ciara and Busta Rhymes and special guest Timbaland on her North American trek.
The 24-city tour kicks off July 4 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. From there, it will make stops in Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Brooklyn and Toronto. The tour will conclude Aug. 22 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
“This is an incredible time in my life as I am experiencing so many milestone ‘firsts.’ Being the FIRST female Hip Hop artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and now going out on my FIRST headline tour,” says Elliott.
“Fans have been asking me to tour forever but I wanted to wait until I felt the time was right because I knew if I was ever going to do it, I had to do it big, and I had to do it with family! So get ready to be taken OUT OF THIS WORLD with me, Busta Rhymes, Ciara, and Timbaland! We can’t wait to share this experience with the fans!”
Out of This World: The Missy Elliott Experience is produced by Live Nation in association with Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment.
“Missy has always been an iconic groundbreaker and continuously pushes herself to be bolder and go where she has never been before – and surprisingly, one of those places is headlining her own tour,” says Scott-Young. “For decades, fans and peers worldwide have clamored for Missy to tour and they’re finally going to get what they’ve been asking for as she teams up with Ciara, Busta, and longtime partner-in-rhyme Timbaland, to deliver a start-to-finish, nonstop, high-octane, OUT OF THIS WORLD concert experience. This will be one for the books, so trust me, you don’t want to miss it!”
Presale tickets will be available beginning Tuesday, April 9, at 10 a.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, April 12, at 10 a.m. local time.
Ciara’s appearance on the tour comes just ahead of the 20th anniversary of her debut album, Goodies.
The album launched at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 125,000 copies sold in the first week. It was led by Ciara’s smash hit “Goodies” featuring Petey Pablo, which spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
Goodies also featured the Elliott-assisted “1, 2 Step,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100.
Last year, Ciara released her CiCi EP via her independent label Beauty Marks Entertainment. The project included the lead single “How We Roll” featuring Chris Brown.
“It was so much fun working with Breezy because we have been wanting to work together for some time. We are so proud of what we made together and, most importantly, the growth we have had as artists,” Ciara exclusively told Rated R&B. “Even down to sharing laughs over us both having kids now, which was even funnier because I was pregnant on the video set. It’s been so sweet to see all the love the fans have been showing the song and video.”
In the same interview, Ciara hinted at more new music in the works. “I wanted to curate and set the tone of my next music chapter with this EP. This project is the start of really exciting things to come, but most importantly, I want my fans to know that the Ci Ci they have always loved is in her R&B bag.”
