Mariah the Scientist’s ‘Burning Blue’ Strikes Gold With RIAA

Mariah The Scientist earned a new award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Her breakout hit “Burning Blue” has been certified gold for selling over 500,000 equivalent units in the U.S. It’s the rising singer’s fourth RIAA certification of 2025.

She previously collected plaques for “Spread Thin” (2x platinum, two million units sold) and “From A Woman” (gold), as well as for her feature on Tee Grizzley’s “IDGAF” with Chris Brown (gold).  

Here is an overview of Mariah The Scientist’s RIAA certifications (as of Aug. 1, 2025):

  • “Spread Thin,” 2x platinum (two million equivalent units sold)
  • “Burning Blue,” gold (500,000 equivalent units sold)

“Burning Blue” is the lead single from Mariah The Scientist’s upcoming fourth album, Hearts Sold Separately, releasing Aug. 22 via Epic Records. 

Produced by Jetski Purp and Nineteen85, “Burning Blue” debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Mariah The Scientist’s highest-charting hit to date. It also reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart and at urban radio.

On Spotify, “Burning Blue” has garnered nearly 42 million streams. Meanwhile, the official music video has over 20 million views on YouTube. 

Hearts Sold Separately will also include the freshly-released single “Is It a Crime” featuring Kali Uchis.
