Lloyd Earns Six New RIAA Certifications, ‘Street Love’ Goes Platinum
Lloyd has been gifted with new certifications from the Recording Association of America (RIAA).
His 2007 sophomore album, Street Love, has been certified platinum with one million equivalent units sold. It’s Lloyd’s best-selling album to date.
Street Love was released March 13, 2007. The album debuted at No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
The album’s lead single, “You” featuring Lil Wayne, produced by Big Reese and Jasper, has been declared 4x multi-platinum with four million equivalent units sold.
On Spotify, “You” is one of Lloyd’s most popular songs on the platform, with over 315 million streams.
“Get It Shawty,” the second single from Street Love, has been certified double platinum, indicating two million equivalent units. According to Billboard, the song peaked at No. 2 on the Rhythmic Airplay chart and No. 4 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
“Lay It Down,” from his fourth album King of Hearts, has achieved platinum status. Polow da Don produced the nostalgic track, which peaked at No. 7 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
Additionally, Lloyd’s 2004 debut single “Southside” featuring Ashanti was certified platinum. The album of the same title has now been certified gold for sales of 500,000 equivalent units.
Lloyd hasn’t released new solo music since 2020. He contributed “They Don’t Care,” an urgent track produced by Slade Da Monsta that appeared on EMPIRE’s compilation album Voices For Change, Vol. 1
That same year, Lloyd released the “Slow Wine Bass,” featuring Teddy Riley. He also unveiled an official music video for the alluring track.
Before this, Lloyd had not released new music since his 2018 album Tru. The 11-track project includes the title track and the sweet song “Caramel,” which later received a remix featuring Yung Miami of City Girls.
In other news, Lloyd has several upcoming shows scheduled for the rest of 2024, including this year’s ONE Musicfest in Atlanta on Oct. 27. Other R&B artists performing on day two of the festival include Jill Scott, Victoria Monét, Keyshia Cole, Dru Hill and more.
