LeToya Luckett to Star in Lifetime Movie ‘I Thought My Husband’s Wife Was Dead’
LeToya Luckett is keeping her acting resumé active. The multifaceted entertainer will star in the Lifetime original movie I Thought My Husband’s Wife Was Dead.
The upcoming thriller, based on Minka Kent‘s novel Unmissing, premieres Saturday, Aug. 3, at 8 p.m. ET.
The movie also stars Sherilyn Allen (Coroner, She Went Missing), Jamall Johnson (Mahalia, How She Caught a Killer), and Angela “Blac Chyna” White (The Black Hamptons, Vicious Affair).
According to the logline, “I Thought My Husband’s Wife Was Dead centers on a beautiful wife and expectant mother, Lola Winters (Sherilyn Allen), who seems to have it all—the big house, a dashing husband, Leo Winters (Jamall Johnson), and a thriving restaurant business. But Lola’s seemingly perfect life is interrupted when a ghost from the past, Tori (LeToya Luckett), suddenly shows up at her doorstep in search of her husband, Leo, after having gone missing for 5 years and being declared dead.”
It continues, “Tensions rise and lives are turned upside down as Tori’s unexpected return leaves everyone questioning her motives and why she hasn’t gone to the police. Determined to start a new life, Tori demands that the Winters pay her hundreds of thousands of dollars, but before leaving town a bombshell revelation exposes even more dark and shocking secrets.”
I Thought My Husband’s Wife Was Dead was produced by JPS Productions and executive produced by Stacy Mandelberg and Tamara T. Gregory. The movie, written by Tamara T. Gregory, was directed by Troy Scott.
This isn’t Luckett’s first time working with Lifetime. The legendary singer starred in Line Sisters (2022), along with Kierra Sheard-Kelly, and Lust: A Seven Deadly Sins Saga (2021) with Keri Hilson and Tank.
“When I was introduced to the film, and after reading the script, I felt the desire to finally get my chance to be a part of a sorority, I had to take this big chance and take this big leap,” Luckett told Rated R&B of Line Sisters.
“There were so many different layers to this film. I felt that the scary part was yes, a big layer, but not one that I should turn away from the film. There was fun, sadness, and so many things that I could relate to. I was like, ‘Let’s do this. Let’s have fun with this.’ I’m glad I did.”
In addition to Lifetime, Luckett starred in BET+’s One Night Stay and A Miracle Before Christmas, OWN Network’s The Great Holiday Bake War and more.
