Leon Thomas Announces ‘Mutt Tour’ Dates

Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and producer Leon Thomas will embark on his first solo tour this fall.

The MUTT Tour kicks off Oct. 27 at the ONE Musicfest in Atlanta. The lineup also includes Jill Scott, Keyshia Cole, Victoria Monét, Jeremih, Elmiene, and others.

Thomas will visit 13 other cities, including Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia, Dallas, and San Francisco. The tour wraps up Nov. 29 in Los Angeles.

Tickets for the MUTT Tour will be available on Thomas’ official website starting at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, Sept. 20.

Thomas will join Blxst’s I’ll Always Come Find You Tour as a supporting act before starting his first solo tour. He’ll be part of the trek from Oct. 1 through Oct. 26.

Both tours will support MUTT, the upcoming second album from Thomas, set to be released on Sept. 27 through Ty Dolla $ign’s EZMNY Records and Motown Records.

“The album MUTT was created shortly after a significant break-up. During the relationship, my ex had given me a dog, and as I started working on the album in my new home, I began to notice similarities between my dog’s behavior and my own,” Thomas explained. “My puppy had never received formal training, and his behavior inspired the song I was writing.”

He added, “It made me think about the give and take in relationships, and the struggle for obedience. My dog is not a pure breed; he’s a mutt. While writing the title track for my album, I came up with the theme for this collection of songs. Even though my dog may sometimes make a mess in the house or bark loudly at the neighbors, I know he means well. This became a metaphor for not being a perfect partner but having good intentions.”

Thomas has released two singles for MUTT so far, which include the title track and the most recent one, “Far Fetched” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The first track, released as the lead single, has a remix featuring Freddie Gibbs, and this remix will also be included on MUTT.

MUTT follows Thomas’ debut album, Electric Dusk, released in August 2023. The acclaimed album garnered positive reviews, including a feature on Rated R&B’s 25 Best R&B Albums of 2023 list.
