Khalid Lands New RIAA Award for ‘Numb’ With Marshmello

Khalid has earned a new award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

His 2022 collaboration with electronic DJ/producer Marshmello, “Numb,” is now certified platinum for selling over one million equivalent units.

It’s Khalid’s second RIAA certification this month, with Benny Blanco’s “Eastside,” featuring Halsey, bumped to 7x multi-platinum. He also had four solo song releases get new honors in April.

“Numb,” Khalid and Marshmello’s second collaboration, was released on June 10, 2022. It followed 2017’s “Silence,” a six-time platinum single.

In a statement from 2022, Khalid said, “Mello and I have a great friendship and when we get together to make music it’s always great vibes. “’Silence’ is a fan favorite that I love performing so continuing our collaborations with “Numb” is something that I’m looking forward to.”

Marshmello commented as well. “Me and Khalid always talked about doing another song, so I sent this idea to him and he loved it I was super happy when I asked him if he wanted to do the song and he said yes because the song is a little different vibe for him, but I knew he would crush it. He sent it to me the next day and I immediately knew we had one with this.”

That same year of its release, “Numb” made a notable impact on multiple Billboard charts.

  • Dance/Electronic Digital Songs – No. 2
  • Hot Dance/Electronic Songs – No. 3
  • Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs – No. 3
  • Pop Airplay – No. 10
  • Dance/Mix Show Airplay – No. 14

On the Billboard Hot 100, “Numb” peaked at No. 40. It is one of Khalid’s 32 entries on the popular singles chart, where he achieved five top 10 hits.

Apart from its chart performance, the song has amassed over 428 million streams on Spotify and has garnered more than 35 million views on YouTube.”

In other news, Khalid released his third album, Sincere, on August 2 via Right Hand Music Group/RCA Records. The album was preceded by the singles “Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me,” “Adore U,” and “Ground.”

Sincere is a combination of my life experiences; it takes inspiration from conversations that I have had with my fans, supporters, and the people that love me,” Khalid explained.

“When I listen back to this project, I hear a sound that’s so unique and represents me at my best. This album is me at 26, continuing to evolve with the knowledge that I have garnered throughout the years.”

Sincere debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and also entered the Billboard 200 at No. 43.

Khalid is supporting Sincere with his latest single, “Heatstroke,” which he performed on late-night television. The song has reached No. 27 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart.

Later this year, Khalid is scheduled to perform at Jingle Ball events presented by both 96.1 The Beat and Y100. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com.
