Janelle Monae On Misogyny in Hip-Hop: I Only Ever Want to Hear Women Rap
With all of the crumbling of expired ideals and old-world symbolism in American society, it isn’t shocking that singer and actress Janelle Monae took to social media to attack the Goliath of misogyny and patriarchy in Hip Hop.
In a series of tweets sent out just before the 4th of July, Monae criticized Hip Hop culture, particularly the emcees and the content of their lyrics. The self-proclaimed pansexual even went as far as to say that from now on, she only wants to hear women rapping.
