Fans React to Pop Smoke’s Debut Album Cover Designed by Virgil Abloh
The countdown for the release of Pop Smoke’s debut album, Shoot for the Stars, has officially begun.
His team unveiled the album’s cover art along with merchandise that was designed by Virgil Abloh. Apparently, it was the late Brooklyn rapper’s wish to have the fashion designer lead the creative direction of his freshman project.
“you were always shootings for the stars and aiming for the moon. everything we talked about is happening, the only thing is you’re not here in the flesh to see it all come together. you wanted Virgil to design your album cover and lead creative.. Virgil designed the album cover and led creative.. we love you and miss you more and more each day,” his manager, Steven Victor wrote on Instagram.
Virgil Abloh has created a successful fashion empire with Off-White and is a living testimony that less is more. But according to the latest trending topic on Twitter, Pop Smoke’s fans aren’t pleased with the artwork.
There’s even a petition to “Change Pop Smokes Album Artwork” created by a Brooklyn party promoter, Scrillz. “Virgil deadass was wild lazy with Pop Smokes Album cover and he needs to fix it,” he wrote in the petition that has over half of its goal within 30-minutes.
