Danielle Ponder Announces New Album ‘Everything Has Changed’
Soul powerhouse Danielle Ponder is set to release her sophomore album, ‘Everything Has Changed,’ this October, featuring the new single ‘Sun and Moon.’
Soul powerhouse Danielle Ponder is set to unveil her highly anticipated sophomore album this fall. The artist has officially announced that Everything Has Changed will arrive on October 9 via Dead Oceans, marking her first full-length project under the label in partnership with Phoebe Bridgers.
Described as Ponder’s most self-assured work to date, Everything Has Changed was produced by Mike Elizondo and Barney Lister, with additional creative contributions from Bartees Strange, Avis Reese, and Ray Jones. Reflecting on the thematic depth of the record, Ponder shared, “There’s a lot of calling out on this album more than I typically would do, and it’s because I am at the end of the game of centering men and feeling like they’re saviors whose validation will make me finally worthy.”
The 14-track collection includes the previously released “Power” and the latest offering, “Sun and Moon.” The latter track is built around a vibrant production, anchored by Elizondo’s warm bass and spirited handclaps, along with Lister’s rhythmic percussion grooves as Ponder sings about the cyclical reality of pursuing love.
“I love that this song is upbeat but the lyrics are quite sad,” Ponder says of “Sun and Moon.” “The sun and moon provide a beautiful symbol of two lovers who spend a life chasing each other but never quite coming together. The drums and tempo of the song remind me of the push and pull chase that I’ve been in more than I’d like to admit. It’s not until the end where the drums stop that she realizes how exhausted she is with the game and longs for something deeper.”
Everything Has Changed serves as the follow-up to Ponder’s 2022 debut album, Some Of Us Are Brave, which featured standout tracks like the title song and “Someone Like You.”
