Daley Signs Record Deal With SRG/ILS Group

British R&B singer Daley inked a new deal with SRG/ILS Group via his imprint Texx7 Records. He joins a roster that includes Lalah Hathaway, PJ Morton and Tweet.

“Daley is an amazing talent,” said Claude Villani, president and CEO of the SRG/ILS Group. “Those who know, know and those who don’t are about to find out what presence is and what the future can be.”

Daley commented, “From early conversations with Walter Millsap III and Claude at SRG, I felt an instant appreciation and excitement about the music, from people who have a genuine understanding of the craft.

He added, “It’s exciting to partner with a team who see the creative vision and have the energy and expertise to help me elevate it.”

Daley is currently in the studio working on his long-awaited third album. According to a press release, “The project will usher in his next musical chapter, expanding sonically and conceptually over his alternative-R&B / soul roots, with the vocal quality and emotional presence for which he has become known and is so often missing in today’s musical landscape.”

Daley’s upcoming album will follow 2017’s The Spectrum, which includes his Jill Scott-assisted jam “Until The Pain Is Gone.” Speaking on the latter track, Daley told Rated R&B, “It’s dealing with a situation where two people are in love but held back by negative experiences and trying to admit to each other how they feel.”

In the same interview, Daley explained the meaning behind The Spectrum. “I came up with it, from a musical perspective, when I started exploring this album. I was just feeling like I should make an album with a certain sound,” he said. “I was thinking I should do this kind of dark, spacey R&B thing. But when I started writing, it dawned on me that it doesn’t encompass everything that I am and what I do in my live shows.”

He continued, “I would be so limited by doing that, so I started to feel like it needed to be a range of things: the dark stuff, the feel-good R&B songs, and something that would translate really well live. In my head, the word ‘spectrum’ kept popping up in all different areas, so it’s my musical spectrum. It’s a range of what I do.”

In 2014, Daley released his debut album, Days & Nights, via Republic Records. The project included his signature song “Alone Together” featuring Marsha Ambrosius
