Ciara and Chris Brown’s ‘How We Roll’ Gets RIAA Certification

Ciara has scored a new certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Her Chris Brown-assisted hit “How We Roll” has been certified gold for selling 500,000 equivalent units.

It marks Ciara’s second RIAA award under her independent label, Beauty Marks Entertainment. She previously scored a certification for her 2019 hit “Level Up,” which was updated to 2x platinum (two million equivalent units sold) in June.

“How We Roll” is the first track from Ciara’s CiCi EP to receive an RIAA certification. The flirty groove was released Aug. 4, 2023, as the lead single from CiCi.

“It was so much fun working with Breezy because we have been wanting to work together for some time,” Ciara told Rated R&B. “We are so proud of what we made together and, most importantly, the growth we have had as artists.” It’s worth noting Ciara and Chris Brown previously collaborated on “Turntables” from her 2009 album, Fantasy Ride.

“How We Roll” reached No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Digital Song Sales chart, tallying Ciara’s second chart-topper. Elsewhere on Billboard, it peaked at No. 6 on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, No. 7 on Hot R&B Songs, and No. 9 on Rhythmic Airplay.

At the time of publication, “How We Roll” has over 44 million streams on Spotify, and the official music video has 63 million views on YouTube.

At the 2024 NAACP Image Awards, Ciara and Brown won Outstanding Duo, Group or Collaboration (Traditional).

After releasing CiCi, Ciara followed up with her “How We Roll (Remix),” which included an added verse from rapper Lil Wayne. She also appeared on collaborations with electronic music trio Keys N Krates (“Fantasy“) and Christian rapper Hulvey (“Altar Remix“).

In August, she released her BossMan Dlow-assisted bop “Run It Up,” which she said was “about staying focused on the hustle and grind to achieve your dreams while remaining unbothered and blessed.”

In late September, she unleashed her new anthem, “Wassup,” featuring rap legend Busta Rhymes. The two, along with Missy Elliott, were on the road this summer on the Out Of This World Tour

In Chris Brown-related news, the singer has three Grammy nominations at the 67th Grammy Awards. He also received 18 new RIAA certifications, including a diamond award for “No Guidance” featuring Drake
